Elementary Education (K-6), Mild Intervention & ESL Requirements

All applicants must submit a complete application AND meet one of the following:
-
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale; or
-
Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 point scale, and five (5) years of professional experience; or
-
Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution, and proof of passing state approved content area examination(s) in the subject area.

Secondary Education Requirements (5-12)

All applicants must submit a complete application AND meet one of the following:

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale; or

Graduate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area or related field in which the person wants to teach; or
-
Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 point scale, and five (5) years of professional experience; or
-
Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution, and proof of passing state approved content area examination(s) in the subject area.

All-Grade Education Requirements (P-12)

All applicants must submit a complete application AND meet one of the following:

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale; or

A baccalaureate or graduate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 point scale, and five (5) years of professional experience; or
-
Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution, and proof of passing state approved content area examination(s) in the subject area.

Prior to receiving your initial licensure (not required for admission), you must also: ​​

Pass the required Praxis Content Assessment(s) in your desired area of certification
​

Provide proof of valid certification in CPR/AED/Heimlich Certification (MUST be from an IDOE Approved Provider - CLICK HERE FOR IDOE LIST OF APPROVED PROVIDERS)

Provide proof of valid certification in Suicide Prevention (Training must be at least 1 Hour) - CLICK HERE ​

A letter from #TEACH verifying acceptance into the program on letterhead and signed

Proof that you have taught for at least 10 weeks

Submit a copy of all required test score reports (this may include Praxis Content Test, PLT Pedagogy Test, OPI Test, etc.) showing passing score(s). If you desire more than one content to added to your license, those scores must also be submitted at this point in the process.​
